Maryuri

The other day as the other girls grabbed towels and headed to the pila for their shower Maryuri walked out of her room wrapped in a bath mat. If the idea of her wrapped in a bath mat isn't good enough for you .... she had it long ways so that it didn't even go all the way around her. When she walked by us her butt was hanging out the back of the mat! :) Heavens is she cute!

No Water!

For the past week we've had very little water. At some points we have had none at all. That gets pretty tricky when you have 13 kiddos who pee/poop in toilets that no longer can be flushed, 13 kiddos who constantly want "aqua" (water), and 13 kiddos who need showers to wash away the hard day of playing outside.  Our solution: bathe them in the pila (outside wash basin of sorts).  It is quite the sight to see them march through the house in their towels as they head out back of the house. They are so stinkin cute! :) You'll be glad to know that I A. haven't been bathing outside in the pila and B. we ordered a water truck yesterday so for now we have enough water to bathe! No idea how long it will last us but we are praying for at least 2 or 3 days!

New Girls

                                                                         Rosita
                         SiSi
Tuesday morning Marc stopped by the house just bursting with excitement. Asking Karen and I to join him on the porch he shared with us that SiSi (6 years old) and Rosita, (8 years old)  two girls we have been trying to bring to Casa for months now, would be arriving that very night. They had been taken in by the police Monday evening when they were found roaming the streets. After praying together for the two little ones that would soon call Casa home we all jumped into action to prepare for what was ahead.

That evening Marc returned (equally excited) with a beaming SiSi and an ever so timid Rosita. We've spent the last two days acclimating them to the house and just simply relishing in the fact that we finally get to love on them.

We covet your prayers right now as these two little ones attempt to settle in here at Casa. I ask for special prayers for Rosita who is deaf and can't talk. Communicating with her has been difficult and even frustrating at times. We are hoping and praying that when we get her tested the results will show that with the assistance of hearing aids she will be able to hear even partially.

I promise to put up better pictures soon. ....but for now here you go.

Happy Birthday Cindy!

Today was Cindy's 7th birthday. We celebrated with a water gun fight during the day and then cake and coke after lunch. We LOVE birthdays! :)

Love in its purest form....

I had the privilege of being in yet another wedding a couple of weekends ago. This time the bride to be was one of my dear college friends Emily and her husband to be was Matt. I was lucky enough to not only get to be there for the wedding but to spend time with Em the day before. I relished in the chance to simply spend time catching up and dreaming of the future. If nothing else I can certainly say that God has truly blessed me with some of the best friends a girl can ask for.
