Thanksgiving Feast

The dad of the family I live with is deploying today. The past few weeks have been moments of preparing for this day. Moments of making memories, moments of him experiencing all his favorite things one last time before he leaves, moments of saying goodbye, and moments of just togetherness. I don't know how they do this year after year. However, I can tell you this: after watching them prepare for this deployment and seeing the sacrifice of him leaving his family, I am now even more appreciative for the men and women who put on a uniform and serve our country.

Since Dave will be gone for the next 5 months and will miss the holidays we went ahead and celebrated Thanksgiving early. I'm talking the real-deal go all out HUGE Thanksgiving feast. We had homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey, green bean casserole, corn casserole, cranberry sauce, AND a homemade pumpkin pie FROM SCRATCH. Addy literally baked the pumpkin then scooped out its insides and made a for real Pumpkin Pie! It was delicious! :)
